First Day Hair

Hello lovelies,

So this week has been a wonderful week. The beginning of the countdown. The start of my senior year. With that said, I had to find some way to style my hair. Seeing has I had been drugged up due to having oral surgery that previous Wednesday, I was in no mood to wash my hair. Instead, I decided to do a damp braid out; they never fail me.

I used a spray bottle with water, Oyin's Hair dew, Eco Styler Argan Oil Gel, and shea butter. I used my wide to tooth to make one distinct part in the front and the rest was just section grabbed. I started with the back of my hair, then I moved over to the left side and finished with the right. I had approximately 20 braids in my hair. I took them down the next morning with Creme of Nature Argan Oil Gloss & Shine Mist to keep the frizzies at bay. It did wonders and gave me a nice sheen. I finished the style off with a braided silver head band.

Summer Do's

This summer I worked as an intern at the corporate office of a local hospital for 6 weeks. 50 percent of the time I wore a braid out, twist out,  or bantu knot out. The other 50 percent I work it in some type of updo. On the weekends I usually wore a bun. I know, I'm kind of backwards with my hairstyles but on the weekend I honestly was lazy. Below are some pictures I took of my hair. Enjoy!

Bantu Knot Out

These pictures are from Valentine's Day. I stumbled upon them when I was deleting items off of my computer. I honestly forgot I had even taken them.

This look was achieved on blown out hair with Oyin's Burnt Sugar Pomade.

I was reading a text

This is definitely a fake smile but at least I tried

OODT: Enjoying the Summer Weather

Sorry for the blurriness! I was being silly. This pics were taken a few weeks ago. My hair was in a two week old twist out turned puff. It was so hot but I thought I was looking cute and I love the shirt so I want to share with you all.

Braid Out Take 2

Hi Darlings,

If you don't know by now I absolutely love my braid outs! It's a way for me to stretch my hair yet quick and easy to accomplish. This braid out was achieved on damp 12 day old hair with Curls Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste.

I usually use this to slick my dry hair back because it leaves a sticky consistence; however, one my damp hair I felt no sticky what so every. I received great definition  and my hair felt super soft and moisturized at the end of the day, that's saying something because it was only 34 degrees and very windy!  I can't wait to try it on clean hair which is when I'll give a more formal review.

Look at that fluff!

Loving the definition. (:

mil besos, ciao!

New Year Resolutions? I Think Not!

Hello Lovelies,

First and foremost Happy New Year! I hope your 2012 has been going as great as mine has thus far. I don't believe in New Year Resolutions. Yes the new year is a big thing but for me, by birthday is when I like to set goals. That being said, I have a list of goals I'd like to accomplish before a certain age, not in a time span of a year. Some of these goals are long term while others are short term. Some are very trivial while others have to do with my education. I'd like to share with you all some of my goals and even some of the ones I accomplished over the holiday season. This is not my whole list just things I feel comfortable sharing. I encourage you all to make your own lists. This is something you can look back on and feel accomplished about once you have completed something.

Color? Color! Color.

Hello Lovelies,

After much research and consideration I've decided to color my hair with Dark and Lovely's Golden Bronze. I've been wanting to color my hair for quite some time and  I chose that this was the perfect time to do so. Exams are over, the holiday season is in full swing and I have three weeks to adjust to the color before school starts back up. I don't expect the color to turn up as light as it is on my virgin, dirty brown/black hair. I'll be sure to post before and after pics.

Mil Besos, Ciao!

No Fuss

Hey Lovelies,

I know, I know I've been slacking but I've been doing a lot of planning when it comes to school and my future so cut me some slack. For a while I was being uber lazy and rocking a fluffy braid out which would soon get thrown up into a puff. Then I switched it up and started slicking by hair back into a low bun. This past week however, I rocked a bantu know out.

I love those things and have to clue why I abandoned them. They are so low maintenance and treat me well.  I've been so fuss these last weeks and I've been loving it. I get more sleep and still have more time in the mornings. Anywho, here's some pics!

Who Are We?

Who are we,
Nothing but the minorities.
All you give us is blame for all the wrong you see.

You say we take your jobs,
You say we kill your children,
You say we are a disgrace to this country.

You tell us we are beneath you,
You tell us we will amount to nothing,
You tell us to go home.

But the thing is
You took this land,
You kilt people's children,
Some may even say,
You are the disgrace of this country.

Unlike you, we know where home is.
Unlike you, we don't mind working for something.
Unlike you, we don't cast blame upon others when things get rough.
Unlike you... WE know what struggle is.

The thing is
Without us,
The minorities,
This country would crumble to pieces.

We are the backbone,
The man behind the scene.
We do all that is unseen.

We don't complain, instead we are grateful.
Are families are happy and healthy and for that, we are thankful.

While all you may ever give us is blame.
We give each other praise because we are not ashamed.

We bond over the "flaws" you have given us.
Why, you ask?

Because we are the minorities,
And in reality
We are the majority.

SN: I wrote this back in May and finally decided to share it with you all. Hope you enjoyed it.
